Where Hymnphony is going next.

We publish our plans openly. Priorities shift as churches tell us what they need, and requests from choirs and directors carry real weight in what gets built first.

How we decide

Led by the people who sing.

Hymnphony is not built in a vacuum. Every release cycle starts with the messages we receive from choir directors, organists and church members, weighted by how many congregations a change would actually help.

  • Requests are counted, not just read. The most-asked-for hymn books and features move up the queue.
  • Accuracy comes first. Every hymn is checked before it ships, however popular the request.
  • Stability over spectacle. Nothing ships if it risks failing in the middle of a service.
  • We say what changed. Every release comes with plain-English notes.

What we are working on

Version 1.0, out now

The full hymn experience

Five church hymnals in one app, with every verse and a search that finds any line. Tonic sol fa and staff notation that follow the music as it plays. Four part audio on organ, piano or strings, with all voices, any part alone or any mix, and a choice of tune where a hymn has more than one. Playlists, playback with the screen off, Songbooks you can share by link, favorites, history, offline saving, widgets and a hymn of the day, with no ads.

In the app

Lead worship from a Songbook

Lead turns a Songbook into live worship: an introduction and interludes, pauses between stanzas, voices per part, changes for today only, and an iPad service console with your phone as its remote. The music holds on every fermata the book prints, and the staff keeps in step. With it come music cards that share a hymn with its score, sol fa and words, singing a hymn to another tune in the same metre, and sign in with a six digit email code.

Full screen-reader support, dynamic type, high-contrast themes and better one-handed use.

Casting audio

Exploring

Printable service sheets

A tidy printed order of service generated from your plan.

Dates are left out on purpose. We would rather ship something that works on Sunday than hit a date with something that does not.

Guiding principles

The things we will not trade away.

Care over speed

We will not grow the library faster by cutting corners.

Offline forever

Hymnphony will always work in a building with no signal. That is not negotiable.

No surveillance

We will not build a business on tracking what you sing, pray or search for.

No ads

There are no ads in Hymnphony. Nothing stands between you and the words of a hymn.

Legible above all

Typography and clarity come before decoration, in every release.

Answered by people

Support is handled by humans who understand church music.
